Before the Aladdin name became famous, the property operated as the Tally-Ho and then briefly as King's Crown. Milton Prell acquired and transformed it into the Aladdin, which opened in 1966 with an Arabian theme. The Aladdin became part of Las Vegas pop culture and famously hosted the wedding of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. After decades of ownership and financial changes, the original resort closed and was imploded in 1998. A completely new Aladdin opened on the same site in 2000, but that project soon faced financial trouble as well. Planet Hollywood and Starwood acquired the resort in 2003 and renovated it in stages. In 2007, the property officially emerged as Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The current hotel is therefore the latest chapter in a site history stretching through several distinct Las Vegas eras.
